    π≈3.14\displaystyle \pi\approx3.14
  • The circumference of a circle – d\displaystyle d the diameter
    C\displaystyle C =\displaystyle = πd\displaystyle \pi d
  • The circumference of a circle – r\displaystyle r the radius
    C\displaystyle C =\displaystyle = 2πr\displaystyle 2\pi r
  • The area of a disc
    A\displaystyle A =\displaystyle = πr2\displaystyle \pi r^2

The cylinder

  • The curved surface area – r\displaystyle r the radius of the base, h\displaystyle h the height
    L\displaystyle L =\displaystyle = 2πrh\displaystyle 2\pi r h
  • The surface area – the two bases and the curved surface
    A\displaystyle A =\displaystyle = 2πr2+2πrh\displaystyle 2\pi r^2+2\pi r h
  • The volume – the base area times the height
    V\displaystyle V =\displaystyle = πr2h\displaystyle \pi r^2 h

The cone

  • The slant height l\displaystyle l – the hypotenuse of a triangle whose legs are the radius r\displaystyle r and the height h\displaystyle h
    l2\displaystyle l^2 =\displaystyle = r2+h2\displaystyle r^2+h^2
  • The curved surface area
    L\displaystyle L =\displaystyle = πrl\displaystyle \pi r l
  • The surface area – the base and the curved surface
    A\displaystyle A =\displaystyle = πr2+πrl\displaystyle \pi r^2+\pi r l
  • The volume – a third of the cylinder with the same base and height
    V\displaystyle V =\displaystyle = πr2h3\displaystyle \frac{\pi r^2 h}{3}

Pythagoras' theorem in space

  • The diagonal of a box d\displaystyle d – a\displaystyle a, b\displaystyle b, c\displaystyle c its three edges
    d2\displaystyle d^2 =\displaystyle = a2+b2+c2\displaystyle a^2+b^2+c^2
  • In a square pyramid – k\displaystyle k the height of a side face, h\displaystyle h the pyramid’s height, a\displaystyle a the side of the base
    k2\displaystyle k^2 =\displaystyle = h2+(a2)2\displaystyle h^2+\left(\frac{a}{2}\right)^2
