Using a page
The page is where you work: you solve questions, write, draw, add pictures and notes, on lined or squared paper. Below is an example, filled in to show everything a page can hold; it cannot be changed. Under it is your own page – start it right away, and come back to the explanations whenever you need them.
An example
An example page
The lesson is printed, in a solid frame, like this box. It cannot be changed or deleted. What you write is in handwriting, in a dashed frame.

Your page
This one is yours: it is empty, waiting for you. Press + Text, + Expression, + Sketch or + Picture to start, and then the ⋯ of a box to add more. Your name and class go in Details above it – export and print need them.

The page
- Yellow paper with a red line. The margin, at the left of the red line, is for short notes. The same in every language.
- Boxes and notes. Everything across the page is a box: the lesson, a question, your text, a sketch, a picture. Something above or under a box is a box too. A note is written beside a box – in the margin, or at the right – and moves with its box.
- Lines. An expression card is one box; its white fields are its lines. Enter goes on to a new line; when a line fills up, the expression after its last = moves to the next line. The box’s ⋯ adds another box.
- What is the lesson, and what is yours. The lesson is printed, in a solid frame, and cannot be changed. Your work is in handwriting, in a dashed frame. A lesson box that holds a place for your work (an expression card, a place to write or draw) is yours.
The buttons above the page
| Button | What it does |
|---|---|
| Export | Saves the work on this page to a file (in your downloads) – keep it, or send it to your teacher. |
| Print / PDF | Prints the page, or saves it as a PDF. The buttons are not printed. |
| Details | Opens the rest, below. Export and Print open it too while your name or class is missing – they need both. |
| Name, Class / ID | Whose work it is. It is kept with the page, goes into the exported file and its name, is printed, and fills itself in on your other pages. |
| Paper: Lined / Squared | The page’s paper. Squared paper is for drawing and for arithmetic. |
| Load | Opens a file made with Export, on the same web page. It replaces the work on the page (it asks first). |
| Clear my work | Deletes all your work on this page – it asks first. Export before, to keep a copy. |
A box’s ⋯ menu
Every box has one ⋯, at the end of its first ruled line (an expression card, a table or a sketch is a single box, so it has one ⋯ at its top).
| In the menu | |
|---|---|
| Add box above / Add box below | A new box: Text, Expression, Sketch or Picture. |
| Add note | Margin note – in the margin, up to the red line. Right note – at the right of the box. |
| Move up / Move down | Moves a box you added. The lesson’s boxes stay in their place. |
| Delete box | Deletes a box that is yours – it asks first (Yes / No). The lesson and its exercises cannot be deleted; a practice question can, with what you wrote in it. |
When the page is empty, buttons to add the first box appear instead.
Writing: text and notes
- You write in handwriting. While you write, three pens appear above the text – blue, red, green; the pen you choose is kept with that text, and the next one starts with it.
- √x, beside the pens, writes a formula: an expression card’s line and keys open under the text, and Put in puts the formula where the cursor was. Tap a formula to change it.
- A right note is a box: drag its left edge to make it wider or narrower (with the keyboard: the arrows, on the edge).
- × deletes a note; a note left empty disappears by itself.
An expression card
The first line holds the expression, and then, line after line, “= the same thing, written another way”. Check checks every line against the one before. It marks a mistake – it never gives the answer. New to it? Expression card guide shows it step by step, and you try each step yourself.
| Key or button | |
|---|---|
| / | A fraction bar. Select part of a line first, and that part goes above the bar. |
| ↑ / ↓ | To the numerator or the denominator; once more – a small note above or below the fraction, to help you remember. |
| Enter | Checks and goes on to a new line. |
| 🗑 | Deletes the line beside it. |
| Check | Checks all the lines. |
| Clear | Erases the lines you wrote. |
While you write in a card, its keys show under it. On a phone or a tablet they are your keyboard.
- The simple keys: digits, signs, / (a fraction), ^ (a power), the arrows, cross-out, and Copy – the line above, without its notes. Here x on the keyboard writes ×.
- More keys adds tabs – abc (letters) and f(x) (roots, trig, logs). Letters are drawn as in math, slanted: x is a letter, × is times. The column at the left holds the keys of the other tabs you use most. Fewer keys goes back. Your choice stays for every page.
- To see what a key does, hold the mouse over it on a computer, or hold your finger on it on a phone.
- ▾ in the corner folds the keys away, ▴ brings them back.
The equation tool
An equation or an inequality, solved line by line: each line has the same solutions as the line before it. Equation tool guide shows it step by step, and you try each step yourself.
A system of equations is solved in the same tool. Its first line is the system, and every line after it must hold at each of the system’s solutions.
- + equation adds an equation to the line, together with the others (in a brace).
- + or adds another case to the line, such as or .
- In the last line each unknown is alone on one side with a number on the other, a case for each solution. ∅ – no solution; ∞ – infinitely many solutions.
A graph board
The axes, the graphs drawn on them, and beside them the list of what they show. Graph board guide shows it step by step, and you try each step yourself.
A sketch
A sketch is a sheet of its own, stuck onto the page.

|---|---|
| The pens | What you draw with: the three you used last, the eraser and the move hand. |
| Eraser | Erases what you drew – the paper stays. |
| Move ✥ | Turns moving on and off. While it is on, everything you drew shows selected: drag a line or one of its ends, a label, a stamp, an arc; an end of a stamp makes it longer or shorter; the eraser takes a whole one away with a tap. A pen turns it off. |
| Pencil case | Everything else, taken out when you need it. Pens in six colours, pencils in three widths, highlighters, labels (tap and write; tap a label to change it), and stamps – coordinate axes and a number line, put down where you tap. The instruments lie on the sheet once taken out, and their buttons in the bar put them back. |
| Ruler | 15 cm, marked in centimetres and millimetres (a centimetre is two squares). Drag its middle to move it – its 0 comes onto a line’s end. Drag its far end to turn it about its 0 and make it longer or shorter, its 0 end to turn it about the far end, and the ⇕ in its top edge to make it narrower or wider. Draw along its edge for a straight line. |
| Protractor | Drag its middle to move it – its centre comes onto a line’s end – and an end of its base to turn it onto a line. Mark a point at its scale with the pen. |
| Compass | Drag the needle to move it, the pencil leg to open it (onto a line’s end: to take a length), and the knob on its hinge to draw an arc. |
| Set squares, 45° and 30°–60° | Marked in centimetres like the ruler. Drag the middle to move one, a sharp corner to turn it onto a line; draw along a side for a straight line – a parallel or a perpendicular. |
| Undo | Takes back the last line you drew or moved. |
| Clear | Erases the whole sketch – it asks first. |
| − / + | Zoom out and in. Zoomed in, the sketch scrolls inside its box. |
| Squares / Lines / Blank | The sketch’s own paper, whatever the page’s paper is. |
| ⊕ | Digital positioning, on and off: the sketch’s axes (0 in its middle, a unit a square) and the fields by an instrument. |
| The fields by an instrument | With ⊕ on: while you drag an instrument, a field shows where it is (x, y – the ruler’s 0, a set square’s right angle, the protractor’s centre, the compass’s needle; a stamp’s 0, dragged while moving); while you turn it, its turn in degrees. A tap on it shows both. Type a number in to put it exactly there. The field goes a moment later, or with its ✕. |
One finger draws; two fingers zoom the page. A drawing stays on the same squares on every screen.
A picture
Choose a picture – from your device, or a photo of your work on paper. Remove the picture takes it away (it asks first). Pictures are made smaller, so the page keeps room for them.
Scrolling
A box of a fixed height (like the table in the example) and a zoomed-in sketch scroll inside themselves. While you are there, small arrows appear at their edges, for each way they can still go: tap one to move a little, hold it to scroll at a steady pace. They disappear when you stop.
An animation
Some lessons have an animation: a picture that changes step by step. Each step is read aloud and written under the picture.
- ▶︎ plays it from beginning to end.
- ‹ and › go one step back or forward; the step is read again.
- The button at the left end of the bar goes back to the beginning.
- At the right end: the narration on or off, its volume and its speed.
- If your device has no voice for this language, the narration is only written, and the steps move on by themselves.
Animations are part of the lesson – you cannot add one to your page.
Where your work is kept
- In this browser, for every web page on its own: come back to a web page, and your page is there.
- Clear my work really deletes it – so Export is your backup.
- Sending work to the teacher: Export, and send the file. The teacher opens the same web page, presses Load, writes notes (in another pen), exports, and sends it back; you Load it, and see the teacher’s notes on your work.
